Objective: Because only the free fraction of serum cortisol can readily access glucocorticoid
receptors, we investigated whether or not a gender-related difference in serum free cortisol
(FC) exists in the basal and adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH)-stimulated state. Methods:
